Lynx Newsletter # 19 (November 8, 2002)

Performance Improvement . . .

The speed with which Lynx works in your company is dependent on a number of interrelated factors. Included are such things as the speed of your computer(s), the kind of network you have, the amount of memory (RAM) and available disk capacity you have on each of your computer(s), how many users you have on the system at any given time, and how heavily they're using it.

Predicting performance with all of these interdependent variables is, at best, an inexact science. However, based on the experience of a number of our customers, we've found that, in most cases (and everything else being equal), the single most significant factor is the amount of memory you have on each of your computers.

Nothing is guaranteed but if you're looking to improve performance, think about adding memory. It's fairly inexpensive these days and might be a very good investment.

How much memory to add? The answer is . . . as much as your computer(s) can handle.

A Reminder . . .
